Independent Scentsy Consultants earn between 20 and 36 percent commissions and bonuses on personal sales and may be eligible for leadership bonuses based on their teams’ sales. The chart below shows how Independent Scentsy Consultants in Canada performed, on average, in 2016. As with any business endeavour, a Consultant’s success will be a direct result of the time and effort they devote to selling the product and leading a team. The earnings below represent commissions that Scentsy actually paid Consultants in 2016. These figures do not take into account any expenses Consultants may have incurred in marketing their businesses.

Are you thinking of joining Scentsy? Read this first!

Before you take the plunge and become a Scentsy consultant, here are a few things to do to plan ahead.

Choose the right sponsor for you.

  • Choose somebody that you connect with, can speak freely with, and that you know will help you every step of the way.

Set yourself up for success.

  • While it’s really exciting, and you may want to click join on a whim, I really encourage you to spend a little bit of time and make sure that you have time in your calendar to host your first launch party in your first week as a Scentsy consultant.
  • At that party, you’re going to book another party. Have one of your friends or family members host a party the next week for you. This is going to help you to get off to a great start and earn awards right of the bat.

Start working on your list of 100.

  • Sit down, write on a piece of paper, the names of 100 people that you know.
  • You might think it’s hard and that you might think you don’t know that many people, but once you start thinking about it, I promise you will know at least 100 people. Think about people at work, people you went to high school with, your kids’ friends’ parents, your kids’ teachers, cashiers, bankers, your nail girl, your hair girl, etc. You know lots of people, and they all need to hear about Scentsy.
  • Commit to yourself to personally contacting at least ten of those people each day for the first ten days of being a Scentsy consultant. This will help you to succeed in the long run. If you have that list of 100 ready before you start your business, you will have a great head start.

My name is Kathryn Gibson, and I joined as a Scentsy consultant on January 1, 2011, but My Scentsy Story starts long before that.

In June 2009, I was a tired, overwhelmed mama of two little boys, aged 21 months and 6 months. Our world was turned upside down when my 6 month old suddenly got very ill and was diagnosed with a rare childhood cancer, Neuroblastoma. Fortunately, it is a treatable cancer, and they caught it young, so his outlook was good. Still, for the next year we were back and forth to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto for diagnostics, chemo, surgeries, etc.

During this time I joined a community of moms in an online forum hosted by a diaper bag company. I joined for the contests and giveaways, but started to form friendships. I started seeing Scentsy pop up here and there, but didn’t think anything of it, because I had never heard of Scentsy before. Then one day a fellow mom shared a picture of the Lisbon Scentsy warmer and I HAD to have it! I contacted her, set up an online party, and got my goodies a few weeks later! I LOVED the product, especially the safety aspect with two small children in my home. My friend asked me to join her team, because Scentsy was just launching in Canada. I wanted to, but the complication of dealing with my son’s illness was too much at the time.

Despite being declared free of disease in March 2010, my son’s cancer came back shortly after. It was no longer expected that he would recover, so we made the hard decision to bring him home and enjoy the time we had left. He passed away on July 14, 2010.

I returned to my part-time job at a bank in September, and by January was ready for a fun distraction from my grief and depression. I became a Scentsy consultant!

I had a fantastic launch, but wasn’t interested in growing a team. I had no idea what I was missing out on, so continued for a year and a half, just selling to family and friends. In July 2012 we were blessed with another baby boy, and while I was on maternity leave, I had some lightbulb moments thanks to some caring Scentsy sisters. I was able to grow my business that year, enough to earn my very first Incentive Trip to Hawaii! A dream come true!

My husband and I decided that I would not return to work, but stay home with our son, and continue to grow my business. This is my WHY. I have been here for my youngest son all along. He hasn’t gone into full time daycare. I haven’t missed a single precious day with him.

Since then, my group has multiplied many times over, and I have earned a total of 8 trips so far, including The Bahamas, Las Vegas, a cruise to Cozumel, Disney world with my family, Kansas City family reunion and more! This year I am proud to say that myself and 6 of my teammates earned a free trip, with a choice of an all-expense paid trip to Anaheim California for our annual convention, called Family Reunion, or a Mediterranean cruise!

UPDATE: Our latest earned trip is to the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Mexico, in January 2019!
